Amomalocaris is another example of the wondrous animals of the famed Burgess Shale of Canada. The name Anomalocaris means “abnormal shrimp” and it is thought to be an ancient relative of the arthropods. Pieces of this leg-sized predator were found separately and presented quite a paleontological puzzle until and entire specimen was revealed. Featuring artwork by April Pedersen.
